The DIF National Resources Hub
With categories covering law and regulations, stakeholder advice, archaeologically based education, case studies, reports, and methodologies, we will continually build our library of documents of interest to all stakeholders.
Institute
In joining the DIF as a Detectorist, the Institute and asset-locked Foundation will receive funds to help us raise the profile of detectorists working to archaeological principles and values, to further our knowledge of the past.
Your support will help us to:
- Develop the DIF National Resource Hub for the benefit of all Stakeholders.
- Provide information on current laws and regulations in an ever more complicated environment for detectorists and landowners.
- Promote the benefits of embedding metal detecting into professional practice.
- Develop a consistent approach to utilising detectorists through new methodologies, standards, and guidance.
- Create a new national educational program to provide varying levels of education and training, for those who are interested.
- To be actively involved at the highest level in matters concerning detectorists integrated in the heritage sector.
- Increase the number of detectorists assisting archaeologists on projects as part of the archaeological team.
Foundation
In joining the DIF, the Foundation will receive funds including an extra 25% in Gift Aid, to support detectorists interested in an archaeological approach and contributing to heritage conservation.
Your support will help us to:
- Enable the Foundation as a Registered Charity, to become a funding organisation.
- Create a Funding Pool to help support detectorist causes with the aim to be an organisation for public good.
- Focus the organisation in making a real difference to protecting and conserving heritage.
- Develop our DIF National Resources Hub to the benefit of all Stakeholders.
- Define and record new archaeological discoveries made by detectorists.
- Commission geophysical surveys in partnership with detectorists providing all-material dating evidence for site evaluation.
- Create interesting and educational online media content, designed to be of interest to all stakeholders and for a broader audience.
